Okay, having revised the previous blog about my impressions of the course I admit I was being fairly negative the first time round so I decided to have another stab, with more positive things to say.
I guess one good thing to talk about is the use of Facebook. It one of the most unique methods of obtaining feedback for work not just from our tutors but from the other art students in the course. It is best described as being a studio where we have our own stations to stick up our work and have others come around to have a look and crit at any time of the day. It also more streamlined method of having to look at your own progress (assuming all the work is arranged in chronological order), instead having to laboriously shuffle through piles of paper one can just navigate with the directional buttons to view the desired image.
Another good thing to talk about is the blogs. Its funny how I never thought about associating these blogs to the course when the very purpose of these blogs is so that our tutors can assess our research and writing ability. The idea of having to write a weekly blog instead writing an essay at the end of the year is actually pretty neat and for a person like me who has poor memory and a slow writing pace this far more beneficial as I probably written more overall in blog-form than I would have in an essay that had to be done in one go.
So in conclusion its probably a good thing that this course has taken a more web-based approach, as it has proven to quite good and effective (no problems for me so far) and sometime in the future other courses may adopt similar methods when it comes to analysing work.
